The four counties of Northwest Georgia — Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker — are home to high-performing public educational systems and sit within reach of a remarkable concentration of colleges and universities.
Public school systems
Catoosa County operates 10 elementary schools, three middle schools and five high schools. The system includes seven Georgia Schools of Excellence and three National Schools of Excellence, and its special-education department earned a Certificate of Highest Performance from the Georgia Department of Education.
Chattooga County includes three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, with the separate Trion City Schools operating its own facilities — recognized with a National Blue Ribbon School designation.
Dade County maintains two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
Walker County operates 10 elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools, and earned bronze-medal recognition from U.S. News & World Report for Best High Schools. The City of Chickamauga School System operates separately.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College administers Georgia's Quick Start program and offers mechatronics training, while the Southeast Lineman Training Center operates in Dade County — a nationally known source of skilled electrical-line workers.
